Ryders Deli

Ryders Deli is a proud local baking business that has been operating for three years, a journey that began at the taxi rank and continues to rise with passion, innovation, and purpose. What started with only muffins has grown into a diverse brand offering cakes, cupcakes, and more. In January 2025, I expanded the menu, which brought new clients, improved profits, and opened doors to several expos across Nelson Mandela Bay, strengthening my reach beyond the taxi rank.

Last year, I completed a baking course at Al Fidaa Foundation, which allowed me to refine my skills and expand the range and quality of products I offer. Through this growth, I created a part-time job and launched a one-of-a-kind community event – the Pipe & Sprinkle Cupcake Decorating Masterclass, where I taught people how to decorate cupcakes and inspired creativity in others.

Community impact remains central to Ryders Deli. I make it a point to deliver muffins to families who have lost loved ones, ensuring they have something to offer guests in difficult times. I’ve also proudly partnered with Ubuntu Pathways, supplying 500 muffins, one of my biggest collaborations to date.

Beyond baking, my entrepreneurial journey has opened doors to leadership. After attending a business event, I met the Secretary General of the IEDF, joined the organisation, and today serve as its National Media Chairperson. I also serve as Creative Director at The Entrepreneurial Bridge, a partnership that began after attending the Nexus Programme hosted by NMU.

Ryders Deli is more than a business, it’s a story of resilience, growth, and community empowerment, built by one muffin, one cupcake, and one opportunity at a time.
